Facilities staff to present Newhall Elementary sidewalk repair bids at next board meeting

Facilities staff said the district is soliciting public bids to replace a section of sidewalk along Kyler Avenue at Newhall Elementary and expects bids to be due Sept. 25. The project will include two ADA ramps at either end of the replaced stretch, staff said, and will address a portion of sidewalk the borough identified as particularly hazardous.
Sam, facilities staff, said the district will bring the bids to the next work session and then ask the board to vote on contracting the work so crews can complete it before cold weather. A committee speaker noted the borough of Mill Hall has been replacing sidewalks in town for several years after an earlier serious injury prompted action; the district project was described as addressing the worst stretch between the elementary and middle school.
Ending: Staff will present received bids at the next work session and ask the board to authorize the contract so the work can be completed ahead of winter conditions.
