The Board of Public Works and Safety approved two utility actions on Wednesday involving Citizens Energy Group (CEG): a $10 dedication for a sanitary‑sewer easement and a quitclaim conveying a small parcel that remained deeded to the city after the 2014 sale of the former Santerre Sewer utility.
John Veil, director of public works, said CEG is constructing a force main that runs from a lift station at 180th Street and provides additional capacity for future west‑side development. He said the city could have required appraisals and payment for the easement but was recommending a nominal $10 dedication to preserve a cooperative working relationship with the utility. Veil said staff had reviewed the alignment and found no conflicts with a planned roundabout at 180th and Grand Park Boulevard.
Separately, Veil described a parcel along the east side of U.S. 31 that remained deeded to the town; the parcel should have been included in the 2014 sale of the utility, he said, and staff recommended quitclaiming it to CEG to correct the deed issue. Veil characterized the quitclaim as resolving a clerical error from the earlier transaction and said legal staff had reviewed the approach.
The board approved both the easement dedication and the quitclaim by voice vote.
