Freeport officials approved a replat of a 3.7841-acre parcel during a short public hearing at a meeting in Freeport. The replat covers three described tracts and was filed in county clerk record 2026-030531.
City staff presented the request and recommended approval. “The request does meet all the standards and requirements that we require, and the city's recommendation is approval of the replat,” said Reggie Harris, a city staff member. Staff said the property is entirely inside Freeport city limits and that the replat adds a narrow strip along the west side that includes a driveway corridor near Commerce Street.
The public hearing was opened and recorded at 06:25 in the meeting transcript and closed at 06:28. During discussion staff and meeting participants noted the site has been vacant and overgrown with trees and that staff had not received any permit applications related to a septic system or other utilities. Staff said there is no record of a current application to tie the property to city sewer and that, while the plat notes a septic system, no permits for a septic system had been filed with the city.
After the hearing a motion to approve the replat was made, seconded by Mister Hayes, and the motion passed unanimously. The meeting record shows the vote as “pass unanimous.” The replat’s full legal description in the meeting record refers to a replat of 3.7841 acres being out of a called 0.1438-acre tract out of a called 10.7221-acre tract in Brazos Coast Investment Company Subdivision Number 13, as recorded in Brazoria County official records (county clerk file 2026-030531) in the Alexander Calvet League, Abstract 49.
No further formal directions or follow-up tasks were recorded in the meeting minutes regarding utility connections, septic permitting, or development timelines. The record indicates the replat was approved; subsequent permitting or infrastructure work was not discussed and was not shown as submitted to city staff at the time of the meeting.
