Staff noted the Pelican models are mechanical-brush designs; some municipalities still use those but staff indicated higher ongoing maintenance and more moving mechanical parts.
Staff said a used or demo Pelican was less expensive on purchase price but that long-term maintenance costs and equipment performance weighed in favor of the CityCat. Trustees discussed lifecycle and replacement expectations: staff estimated a modern sweeper could last roughly 20 years in village use versus an older used unit likely reaching end-of-life sooner. Trustees authorized borrowing to acquire the demo CityCat and directed staff to proceed with purchase and financing arrangements.
The motion to purchase the CityCat demo unit passed by voice vote.
