Westminster Public Schools honors two staff members with Fred awards

The Westminster Public Schools Board of Education presented Fred awards Tuesday to two employees recognized for service that board members called “going above and beyond.” Matt Abishan (presenter) and Steve Saunders introduced the honorees.
Susana Brill nominated Ricky Quintana Luna, a community liaison in operations, saying he “exemplifies an attitude of caring and helpfulness” and noting his work distributing food to families. Ricky said he is proud to be an alumnus of the district and described his work connecting with students and families: “I’m very proud to be a member and community liaison here in the district.”
Dr. Justin Adcock nominated Kyle Phillips from Technology Services for prompt, patient technical support that keeps district operations running. The nominator described Phillips’s responsiveness and problem-solving, and Phillips told the board he sees immediate response and preventative support as part of his job.
Both recipients were presented trophies created by students at the Colorado STEM Academy and copies of the book that inspired the award. The Fred award is a staff recognition program based on the concept in Mark Sanborn’s book; the board did not take any policy actions related to the recognition program during the meeting.
