Stonecrest URA: 2024 activity largely real estate; external audit part of city audit

At its Sept. 22 annual meeting the Stonecrest Urban Redevelopment Agency reviewed its 2024 activity and confirmed that nearly all recorded activity involved real estate transactions and property management. The chair said real estate accounted for “99.9%” of URA activity in 2024 and that remaining expenditures were routine building operational costs such as HVAC maintenance. The URA confirmed it owns the building used for this meeting and the Sam’s Building, which had been leased to the DeKalb County Board of Elections through Dec. 31, 2024. Board members noted that state law requires compiling an annual report of URA activities to city council and that the URA’s financial accounting is performed by the City of Stonecrest under an intergovernmental agreement; consequently URA finances are included in the city's external audit. Staff said they would extract URA fund details from the city budget and send that extract to URA members separately so there is a discrete record of URA activity for the year.
