Public Works advances $130,000 design agreement for South Cherry Street rehabilitation

The Public Works Committee recommended authorization for the mayor to execute an agreement with Tuvan O'Wade and Mercian Inc. for design and survey services for the South Cherry Street rehabilitation in the amount of $130,000. Public Works staff said the project is a continuation of earlier neighborhood reconstruction efforts (sometimes referred to as the Presidential Street projects) and follows a recent comprehensive drainage study that informed needed improvements. The engineering work will produce plans, specifications and cost estimates to solicit construction bids. Staff said they will assess existing sidewalks and replace those with damage or trip hazards as part of the rehabilitation. The committee approved the agreement by roll call (Hudson, Ford, Rosenberg, Phoney, Force and Carney voting yes). The design phase will precede a formal construction bid process.
