Board members reviewed a draft set of board goals on Sept. 24 that were produced at an earlier working session and posted for comment. The draft categories draw from state and national guidance and include instruction, equity, finance, facilities and policy oversight. Several members urged the board to make goals measurable and to establish next steps for implementation. Board member Christian said measurable deliverables and midyear evaluations would help ensure goals influence budget and policy choices; other members argued strategic planning should underlie the goal-setting process so objectives produce actionable priorities. Board members agreed to post the draft on board materials and to return with refined, measurable language before a formal vote at the next meeting. Several members said they also want the board to budget for and launch a formal strategic-planning process this year.
