Parent speaker urges CCISD to expand library review tools and create "library taxpayer partnership"

"Needless to say, we all rely on trusted institutions to make that task unnecessary. But how trustworthy are those institutions?" he asked.
Davis referenced the American Library Association and its past president, Emily Drabinski, and characterized certain professional-library language as ideologically driven. He proposed features for the district's system, including a Quora-style upvote feature for students, teachers, parents, and taxpayers; classification by grade and other criteria; and inclusion of classroom libraries so classroom-specific titles could be visible to that class's parents.
The remarks were part of the public comment portion; there was no board response beyond the standard procedural reminder that matters requiring response would be addressed by the superintendent as appropriate.
Why it matters: library-materials selection and parental-access policies are recurring issues in many districts and can affect classroom and library inventories. Davis suggested a set of specific technical and classification tools for district consideration. These comments constituted public input only; the board did not take action during the meeting.
