Board accepts completed state school projects and approves state grants for roof replacements

The New Haven Board of Education on Sept. 22 approved minutes from Sept. 8, accepted completed state capital projects and authorized the use of state grant funds for roof replacements at three schools.
Mister Wilcox moved to approve the minutes of Sept. 8, 2025; the motion was seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve. The board then approved the superintendent’s personnel report by motion and vote.
On separate motions, the board accepted the Betsy Ross project (state project 093‑0332), the New Haven Grant project (state project 093‑0365) and the Engineering and Science University Magnet School project (state project 093‑0357) as complete. Later in the meeting the board approved the use of funds for non‑priority state grants for roof replacement projects at Hill House High School (James Hill House High School), Wilbur Cross High School and Truman School as outlined in the meeting packet.
Mister Wilcox introduced and moved several resolution motions related to state project acceptances and grant approvals; each motion was seconded and carried on recorded votes. For each listed resolution the board recorded a roll call of yes votes that included Mister Wilcox, Doctor Joiner, Doctor Benitez, Miss Downer, Mister Juarez, Miss Colon, Mister Ailey and Mayor Elicker; the motions carried.
The board also approved a bundled consent motion covering abstracts, memorandums of understanding, agreements, amendments, purchase orders, data‑sharing agreements and contracts listed on the agenda; that omnibus motion was moved and seconded and passed on a recorded roll call.
These approvals establish project closeouts for several state projects and authorize the district to proceed with the planned roof replacement projects using the identified state grant funds. The motions did not include additional budget authorizations beyond the use of the specified grant funds; district finance staff will continue coordinating with the city and state on final accounting and any subsequent budget implications.
