The City Commission of Winter Haven City on Sept. 22 adopted Resolution R-25-48, which updates the membership and administrative procedures for the city's Grant and Aid Application Review Committee.
The resolution removes specific committee member names from the governing text, requires that committee vacancies be advertised by the city clerk and appointments be reviewed by the commission, and replaces fixed annual meeting dates with a more flexible annual meeting timeframe. It also authorizes the city manager to appoint three ex officio staff members to the committee each year rather than naming specific staff positions in the resolution.
Deputy City Manager explained the changes are intended to accommodate turnover in staff and committee membership and to streamline the appointment process. Staff said one vacancy will be advertised immediately, and a recommendation for appointment will be returned to the commission. The resolution also directs a fall planning meeting for the committee in preparation for the 2026 application cycle.
Staff reported there is no financial impact associated with R-25-48. The commission approved the resolution by voice vote after a brief presentation; no public comments were offered on the item during the hearing.
