City administration presented Ordinance 2025-31 at committee, proposing a revised salary structure for the city treasurer that the administration described as modest and informed by a compensation review committee.
The administration said a commission reviewed pay data from comparable communities and recommended a base increase of about $15,000 and an annual adjustment near 1.75%. The committee cited examples including Athens and Lancaster as comparators. The office has taken on regular investment and income-tax-related duties, and the administration said the treasurer this year helped generate a record amount in investment income for the city.
The administration said the compensation review committee and the human resources director provided the recommendation. Councilwoman Hager attended the commission meeting and told committee she found the recommendation "extremely fair." The ordinance will proceed through the council's reading schedule; no final vote took place in committee.
