Council authorizes $230,000 purchase of six city vehicles for public service and inspections

Hilliard City Council on Sept. 22 adopted Resolution 25R77 authorizing the city manager to purchase six fleet vehicles from Ryker Automotive for municipal use.
Staff said the purchase includes five Ford Ranger pickup trucks and one Ford Explorer at a total cost of $230,000 to be charged to the F1 heavy vehicles account in the 03/2004 fund. The vehicles will be used by maintenance supervisors in Public Service, the Public Service Administrator (shared with the Public Service Director), one building inspector and utility locators. A council member asked whether staff take the vehicles home overnight; staff replied the vehicles remain at city facilities overnight.
The resolution passed by unanimous roll call (7–0) and staff said they would proceed with the purchase per the adopted authorization.
