The El Campo City Council on Sept. 22 adopted Ordinance 2025-12, approving the citys fiscal year 2026 budget, and adopted Ordinance 2025-13 setting the 2025 tax rate. The actions were approved by motion, second and voice vote.
Adopting the budget and setting the tax rate were presented as separate agenda items but were taken in the same council meeting. City staff placed both ordinances on the consent/regular agenda; council members moved and seconded adoption and asked for a vote. The mayor called for the vote and the motions passed.
City staff told the council the City Development Corporation also adopted its fiscal year 2026 budget earlier the same day at its regularly scheduled meeting; the council then approved the CDC budget as presented.
The council did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript; the minutes show the measures passed by voice vote after a motion and second. No amendments or additional conditions were stated on the record.
The councils actions send the adopted budget and tax rate into effect as approved at the meeting; staff and council provided no additional timetable for implementation in the discussion recorded at the meeting. The meeting packet located the budget ordinance and tax-rate ordinance under Items 7.1 and 7.2.
Council members thanked staff for work on the budget. No substantive public comment on either the budget or the tax rate was recorded during the meeting.
