City staff told council the equipment is critical for lifting and transporting salt, soil, sand, gravel, rocks and debris. The proposed lease is four years with annual payments of roughly $66,000 and a total expenditure not to exceed $263,000 from the F1 heavy equipment (03/2004) fund. The resolution passed on a 7–0 roll call.
No council members raised questions about the purchase beyond the staff presentation; staff offered to answer questions and noted the replacement decision was driven by the equipment reaching the end of its useful life.
