Parks staff invited the board and public to several upcoming events, including Mini Pioneer Days for fourth graders, the two‑day Pioneer Days event and the grand opening ribbon‑cutting for a new building on Oct. 17.
Staff said Mini Pioneer Days starts the day after the meeting and runs through Friday and that all fourth graders from the Vigo County School Corporation are expected. Pioneer Days, a public event, was announced for October (dates not repeated) with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Staff also said the department will hold a grand‑opening ribbon cutting for a building at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 with light refreshments and an open‑mic night planned.
Staff reported maintenance crews have been preparing the village for both events and that building walkthrough and punch‑list work is scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. Staff invited board members to attend the grand opening and to view the building once floors are dry. No formal board action was taken; these were event announcements and invitations to participate.
