Elkhart City’s parks board on Sept. 16 approved an updated contract with RICO and circulated the document for signatures after city legal confirmed revisions.
Rose Rivera, representing the city legal department, told the board the contract had been approved at the prior meeting contingent on legal review and that the current item was to sign the contract with the updated legal and financial language. "So you guys approved this at the last meeting, contingent on chief just by legal. What we didn't ask you to do last time was delegate your signing authority. So it's here in front of you not to approve, but really to sign for us at this point, as is with all the changes that were made," Rivera said.
Brianna, a parks staff member, noted the changes were limited to legal and financial wording. The board carried the motion to approve the updated contract by voice vote and the legal representative indicated no further delegation of authority was required for this instance; staff circulated the contract for signature during the meeting.
The meeting record does not include contract dollar amounts or detailed contract scope in the presented item; those details were not specified during the meeting.
Staff recorded that the contract would be circulated and signed; no additional conditions or amendments were stated on the record.
