The Ouray County Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 23 approved a service-repair contract with Daikin Applied Americas Inc. to repair, relocate and address long-standing issues with the courthouse VRV condensers and associated components.
Facilities Manager Will (surname not specified in the record) told the board Daikin performed an assessment and identified multiple items needing repair: replacement of circuit boards and compressors, removal of filter-dryers that were installed for temporary compressor swaps, separation of condensers by about four inches for improved airflow, duct and sheet-metal corrections, and addressing daisy-chained thermostats in the lower basement. Daikin is the manufacturer of the equipment and the contractor recommended as close to a factory representative as the county can obtain; the firm is based in Denver.
Will said the work will include crane operations in the courthouse alley, about a week of on-site work, steel prep by county staff, and system recharge and filtration. The company’s cost estimate (including travel) was presented to the board; the quoted figure discussed in the meeting totaled approximately $66,000 and includes associated fiscal-impact documentation.
Commissioners approved a motion authorizing the chair (or the county manager) to sign the service-repair quote and the fiscal-impact form. The county will coordinate crane placement and any necessary alley closure with the city prior to work.
Ending: Staff will schedule the work with Daikin, coordinate alley/crane logistics with the city, and proceed with repairs to resolve daily restart issues with the courthouse HVAC system.
