Council member Saka, reporting at the Sept. 22 briefing, told colleagues the Transportation Committee advanced several committee bills that will appear on the full‑council agenda the next day, including a district project fund resolution with a proviso lift and a pilot e‑cargo bike permit program Saka described as “first in the nation.”
Saka said the committee also passed a technical piece of legislation to change the name of a railroad entity. The committee chair framed the e‑cargo bike permit pilot as a “transformative” item and listed it among the items the full council would consider.
Saka also noted outreach and meetings with local partners and stakeholders, including Seattle Municipal Court leadership and King County Council members, and said meetings with firefighters raised staffing concerns. He reported community visits in Highland Park and meetings with the Seattle social housing developer CEO to discuss early‑stage collaboration.
No formal vote totals were announced during the briefing; Saka said the bills “made it out of committee” and would be before the council at full council the following day. Any final action or ordinance adoption will be recorded when taken at full council or committee minutes.
