The board approved an amendment to the OPN Architects agreement for the district’s new performance venue, authorizing design work on a west-hallway extension intended to improve circulation and functionality.
“...this is just a piece of the performance venue that is going to make the building a lot more functional,” a board member said during discussion. Trustees said stakeholders had requested changes to improve backstage, audience flow, and related operations, and they described the amendment as a step toward addressing those needs.
The motion to approve the OPN amendment was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. Board members said the amendment was discussed at the Finance and Audit Committee and that staff had asked OPN to treat the work as an extension of the existing project rather than a new separate project; that distinction affects timing and approvals.
Administrators said they will monitor OPN’s performance on the amendment closely, noting the work will be relevant to upcoming construction phases and future district projects.
The board did not set a separate funding appropriation during the motion; staff noted that the amendment was part of ongoing project planning and that further budget details and sequencing would be available in future construction updates.
