Commissioners award debris monitoring and removal contracts and approve several procurement solicitations

Walker County Commissioners Court approved multiple procurement actions and contract awards on Sept. 22, including selection of primary and alternate vendors for debris monitoring and debris removal contracts and issuance of solicitations for materials and services. The court awarded IFB C2360‑26‑005 for debris monitoring services to Debris Tech LLC as the primary vendor and Thompson Consulting Services as alternate, citing Debris Tech’s lower pricing for a 100,000‑cubic‑yard quantity. For debris removal (IFB C2360‑26‑006) the court named DRC Emergency as primary and Southern Disaster as the alternate, following FEMA procurement rules that require primary and secondary vendors for disaster work. Commissioners also approved issuance of an IFB for pea gravel for Road and Bridge, and authorized a request for proposals for financial advisory services to assist with long‑range planning and bond evaluation. Additional routine awards and renewals were approved including pest control services to Statewide Pest Control and renewal of HDPE pipe solicitations. Separately, the court approved a contract for a firewall mitigation IT project (eConsortium/DIRCPO contract) at $31,450 to be paid from IT project funds, and approved using the county’s IT project funds for the work. Several items were approved by voice vote; the court recorded motions and carried them by majority vote.
