The Sellersburg Town Council on Sept. 22 approved ordinance 2025-OR-021 to transfer multiple budget line items between funds to address immediate needs in streets, sanitation and park operations.
The ordinance lists a series of transfers, including $50,000 to streets vehicle maintenance, $30,000 to sanitation fuel, and smaller amounts reallocated into park-and-recreation salary lines (for example, $3,500 from park equipment and $2,000 from training and promotions). Randy moved the ordinance; Terry seconded and the council approved the transfers.
Council discussion included a question about a $1,000 mileage and travel line in parks. Charlie, the staff member presenting the budget changes, said the travel line exists "in case there is" training and that the line is rarely used. The ordinance sponsor said the transfers were necessary to meet needs in streets and sanitation and to fund existing park responsibilities.
The council waived the second reading before approving the ordinance. The ordinance states it takes effect on passage and by the affirmative signatures of the majority of elected members.
Officials said the changes were intended to keep maintenance and payroll obligations current and to respond to operational needs identified in recent months. The council did not adopt new spending beyond the transfers and did not create new programs during the vote.
