Westfield Pickleball Association asks council for support to expand courts

Patrick May, president of the Westfield Pickleball Association, used a three‑minute public comment period Tuesday to thank the council for resurfacing courts at Quaker Park and to urge further investment in pickleball facilities. May said the nonprofit association has nearly 100 members and is committed to outreach, clinics and events. He said the Quaker Park improvements “have already made a profound impact on the safety and playability of Quaker Park.” Why it matters: May argued expanded, higher‑quality courts could serve a growing city population and attract tournaments and visitors, generating economic benefit. He requested continued city support and offered the association’s volunteer base for fundraising, clinics and event management. May framed pickleball as a cross‑generational recreational opportunity and praised the community benefits of parks, markets and trails. He closed by urging the council to continue supporting facility development and maintenance.
