Senior Social Center outlines growth, programs and funding; thanks county rent support

Rebecca Greenwood, executive director of the Senior Social Center, presented a program update to the Moffat County commissioners highlighting membership, services, partnerships and recent grants.

Greenwood said the center served about 776 unique clients in 2024 and recorded 8,278 sign‑ins for classes and activities; she said the center’s budget has grown from roughly $67,206 in 2020 to a budget of $256,894.21 in the most recent year. Greenwood credited a mix of funders and grants, noting primary funding from the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Colorado (AAA) and larger grants including a $50,000 grant from Next50 to expand the center’s resource‑navigator program. Greenwood said Moffat County provided $14,400 this year to help with rent and that the county support allowed the organization to direct other funds toward programming.

Greenwood summarized core services including Medicare SHIP counseling (the center served 687 unique SHIP clients in the last fiscal year), senior outreach to roughly 76 homebound seniors, health and wellness partnerships with Northwest Colorado Health, transportation partnerships for swimming and wellness trips, volunteer and youth engagement programs, and planned home‑modification assistance through the resource navigator program. She said the center hosts a quarterly provider meeting, a resource expo with about 20 vendors, arts programming, fitness classes and a fundraising wine‑and‑art event that supports the center’s operations.

Commissioners thanked Greenwood for the update and for the center’s services to older adults across the region. Greenwood invited commissioners and the public to the center’s fundraising event and noted the center’s continued efforts to expand bilingual outreach and home‑modification services.
