Commissioners approve unrestricted hours for planned Red Creek Quarry with conditions

Tim Smith of AmRise asked the board to modify the condition, saying the company operates its existing quarry 24 hours and seeks the operational flexibility for the new site. "We are planning on 12 hours per day, but we don't want the daylight... and we respectfully ask if we could have that changed," Smith said. County planning staff recommended approval after review, and Planning and Zoning Director noted the applicant had met submittal requirements.
Commissioners and staff discussed neighborhood proximity and operational context; staff and the applicant emphasized that the proposed quarry site is much more remote than AmRise’s current operation, with the nearest residence roughly a mile and a half away. The board approved the amendment by roll call; the motion passed unanimously.
