Council nominates two candidates to Parker County Appraisal District board

Weatherford City Council voted to nominate Richard Barrett and Joe Wilkinson to serve on the Parker County Appraisal District (PCAD) Board of Directors. The two positions are appointed by taxing jurisdictions; nominees will be part of a ballot considered by the district in December and will, if elected by the taxing entities, begin terms Jan. 1.
City staff said one incumbent, Jerry Durant, is stepping down and Richard Barrett is the current board member seeking reappointment. Joe Wilkinson — who previously served on an appraisal review board and as president of an Emergency Services District (ESD) board — indicated willingness to serve again. City Manager James Hotop explained the administrative process: the council’s nominations will be sent to PCAD, which compiles a ballot for all taxing jurisdictions to vote on later in the year.
Councilmembers voiced support for both nominees and voted to forward their names in a resolution to the appraisal district.
