The contract term runs from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026, with up to four one-year renewal options if the city and firm agree.
Councilmembers asked about contractor performance. Councilmember George asked staff to confirm the contractor uses water spray and operates near curbs; he said he has observed prior sweepers creating dust clouds and requested the city verify the new firm’s procedures and equipment. Staff noted the recommended firm has a Houston office and provided references that include the city of Sugar Land and TxDOT.
Councilmember Hector moved to approve Resolution R-3961; Councilmember Felix seconded the motion. The council voted unanimously in favor.
At the meeting, officials said staff will meet with the new contractor before work begins to confirm equipment has functioning spray systems and to discuss sweep speeds and proximity to curbs.
