Eureka City amends fiscal 2025 budget and adopts fiscal 2026 budget

Eureka City Council approved a resolution to amend the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025 budget and subsequently adopted the budget for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, both unanimously on Sept. 22.

City attorney Brad (city counsel) told the council the amendment was a routine ‘truing up’ to reconcile receipts and expenses through June so the auditor can review and the city can submit its reports to the state. The council then moved to adopt the resolution to amend the FY2025 budget and later adopted Resolution No. 2025-09-22-02 to adopt the FY2026 budget.

Council members asked a small number of clarifying questions about line items during the work meeting; no formal amendments were made during the council session. The measures passed by unanimous voice vote.

Staff said the amendment is procedural and part of the regular financial close-out process; the mayor and staff will finalize documents for the auditor and state filing.
