Narberth Borough Council unanimously adopted the 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Plan on Sept. 18 and was urged by staff to review the list of proposed capital projects before budget discussions begin in October.
Why it matters: The CIP sets the borough's prioritized capital goals (streets, stormwater, facilities, equipment) and frames funding requests that will appear in next year's budget. Adoption signals council approval of the plan as a planning document, not an authorization of spending; specific project funding will require separate budget votes.
Details: Staff told council the CIP includes suggested funding strategies and noted a number of projects flagged as critical for the coming year that could drive budget requests. Staff also reported that a previously delayed stormwater Best Management Practice project from 2022 had documentation completed and would return approximately $86,772 to the borough from County Transportation Funds; staff described that as additional general-fund capacity during budgeting.
Council members were reminded the CIP is not a funding document. The plan will be posted to the borough's website.
Next steps: Council will review the CIP and discuss capital priorities at the October work session; the formal budget votes will follow later in the budget calendar.
