Zoning committee refers several rezoning and special-use items to Zoning Review Board

The Atlanta Zoning Committee moved multiple rezoning and special-use items to the Zoning Review Board (ZRB) for further review and in some cases approved packet amendments before referral.

Items 3 and 6 — an ordinance to change conditions for property at 1527 and part of 1541 Northside Drive NW and a special-use permit for a daycare center at 1146 Sheridan Drive NE — were taken as a block. Committee members amended the items with provisions "in your packet," and then approved them as amended by unanimous recorded votes.

Several other special-use permit requests and rezonings (items 7 through 14), including outdoor exhibits, outdoor eating and drinking within 1,000 feet of residential property, an outdoor amusement enterprise, and a nonresidential use exceeding 7,500 square feet that serves alcohol, were referred to the ZRB with a unanimous vote after a motion to refer. Item 5 (a rezoning request on Jonesboro Road Southeast and multiple Hargas Street parcels) was set before the committee with a substitute motion, and then the committee referred it to ZRB.

Separately, item 4 (rezoning at 1488 Bolton Road NW) was filed by a motion from Council member Dustin Hillis and recorded as filed by a 7-0 vote. Item 18 (356 University Avenue SW) was later taken off the held agenda and handled separately.

Chair Matt Westmore opened the votes and recorded the committee's actions. Most referrals and approvals were unanimous, recorded as "7 ayes, 0 nays." The transcript shows staff and MPU recommendations where noted but does not record detailed debate on most of the referred items.
