Red Willow County Vice‑Chairman Randy Dean and Commissioner Charles Fritsche adopted the county's 2025–26 budget and voted to set the final tax request at an amount different from the prior fiscal year during the Board of Commissioners meeting on Sept. 22, 2025. The board also approved multiple transfers of county funds to cover road, self‑insurance and general fund needs.

Dean said the county developed this year's budget in a way that allowed it to lower the levy because of an increase in valuation. The board adopted Resolution No. 1572 to adopt the 2025/2026 budget and Resolution No. 1573 to set the final tax request.

Following adoption, the board approved several interfund transfers by resolution: $364,468 from the General Fund to the Road/Bridge Fund (Resolution No. 1574), $1,042,264.13 of general fund levy to the Self‑Insurance Fund as needed (Resolution No. 1575), and a resolution authorizing transfers of up to $349,000 from the Inheritance Fund No. 2700 to the General Fund No. 0100 as needed (Resolution No. 1576). Those resolutions passed by roll call with Dean and Fritsche voting aye and Gans absent.

The Board earlier approved a correction transfer of $13,000 from Road Fund 0300 to Road and Bridge Buy‑Back Fund 0650 (Resolution No. 1578) as part of consent items. The board also approved accounts payable and payroll claims totaling $493,730.14 during the consent agenda.
