Gonzales accepts new fire engine; department schedules dedication and equipment fitting

The Gonzales Fire Department reported that a newly purchased fire engine arrived and city staff accepted delivery, and the department announced a public dedication scheduled for Sept. 18.
Fire Chief Musio told the council the truck arrived at about 3:45–4:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting and staff signed acceptance paperwork. He said crews must install radios, configure shelving and gear, and complete driving- and apparatus-specific training before the engine will be placed in service. "It's probably gonna be middle of next month before you see it out on the street," Musio said.
The council and staff set a public dedication ceremony at the firehouse for Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Chief Musio invited council members and residents to inspect the apparatus at the station; he said full in-service date depends on equipment installation and crew certification.
Why it matters: Acceptance of the apparatus strengthens local emergency-response capacity once equipped and certified. The department described standard preparation tasks, including radio installation and adjustable shelving configuration for tools.
