County schedules three public open houses on proposed zoning and subdivision regulations

Johnson County planning staff announced three public open houses the first week of October to collect public input on a proposed update to the county’s zoning and subdivision regulations.
Planning Director Jay Leibsick told the zoning board the county will hold open houses on Oct. 7 at the New Century Field House, Oct. 8 at the Johnson County Administration Building (Board Hearing Room), and Oct. 9 at Stillwell Elementary School. All meetings were scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Leibsick said the events will be an open-house format with display boards and staff available for discussion, and that materials and dates will be posted on the planning page of the Johnson County website.
Leibsick also reported that the planning commission conducted the annual comprehensive plan review on Aug. 26 and recommended the plan be found consistent with a few amendments; staff said those recommendations and a draft arterial road network update and housing type amendments will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners. A public hearing on the comprehensive plan amendments was reported as scheduled for Sept. 23. Staff asked the board to help spread the word about the October open houses.
