Chip Stevens, the meeting speaker identified in the record as representing the codification effort, said the vendor has produced a rough final draft and is assembling the final product. “Once they get done, they will host the ordinances online,” he said, adding the online product will include references to the ordinance history and be easier to search than past formats.
Stevens said the vendor’s annual fee is nominal and that the service will monitor statutory changes and provide periodic updates, which should keep the town’s code current. Board members noted the town website will likely link to the hosted codified ordinances so residents and staff can find land‑use rules, amusements, and other local regulations without searching external sites.
Board member Jeanie (last name not recorded) raised a content question heard earlier in the meeting: the board should consider definitions for “heavy industry” and “light industry,” particularly to address potential server‑facility development. Members said adding clear definitions could aid future land‑use decisions and reduce ambiguity during hearings.
Stevens said he will notify the board when the final product is returned and noted the board can review the finished draft before it is published. No vote or formal action was taken at the meeting on the codification vendor’s contract or on adopting definitions; the update was informational.
