Commission approves reallocation of ARPA funds to help PAC town paving and community center projects

Fayette County commissioners approved a request Sept. 18 to reallocate American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds previously allocated to a county marketing center to cover a higher-than-expected paving bid and to assist ongoing community center work in the town of PAC.
A representative for the town explained the town received $80,000 in county ARPA funds, allocated $60,000 toward community center improvements (windows, HVAC and potential bathrooms) and $20,000 toward paving. When bids were opened the low paving bid came in at $45,000, exceeding the $20,000 set aside. The town requested moving $25,000 from the county marketing-center allocation into the town paving line to cover the shortfall.
Commissioners had no objection and approved the reallocation by voice vote.
Why it matters: small towns often rely on county ARPA allocations for capital repairs; the reallocation allows PAC to proceed with paving work and continue community center improvements funded with federal relief dollars.
