The board approved a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Deming Public Schools and Help New Mexico Head Start for the 2025–26 school year. The MOU continues an existing partnership in which Head Start and the district coordinate placements for children who transition into district programs on their third birthday. Staff said the arrangement supports classroom placements at multiple Head Start or district sites: one classroom at RST, one at TLC and one that can receive students at an FRC (family resource center) location. Under the MOU the district provides one educational assistant (EA) in those shared classrooms while Head Start provides the other EA and the certified teacher. Board members noted historically strong cooperation with Head Start and expressed support for continuing the partnership. Action: Motion to approve the MOU carried on roll call; administration will maintain placements and staffing per the agreement.
