Board approves 100-foot ID sign at 1505 Louisville Street

The Board of Adjustments approved a height variance allowing a 100-foot identification sign at 1505 Louisville Street.

Lane Jones of Southern Sign Crafters said the proposed freestanding sign will be built from the ground at the Louisville Street frontage and exceed the 45‑foot ordinance limit; the sign’s total height would be 100 feet. Board members asked about nearby sign heights and whether the sign would sit under the bridge near Northern Boulevard; Jones said comparable billboard structures in the area reach about 85 feet but are sited lower relative to the roadway.

A motion to approve the height variance was made, seconded and carried. The petitioner and board confirmed the sign will be a ground-mounted structure on the property rather than attached to the Northern Boulevard bridge or other elevated structures.
