Board denies liquor-serving allowance for BG’s Events Center due to proximity to residences

The Board of Adjustments denied a request to allow alcohol service at BG’s Events Center at 3447 McGee Road, citing its close proximity to nearby residential units and concerns about noise and late-night disturbance.

Larry Webb Sr., representing BG’s Events Center, told the board the center planned events daily from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. and would employ security. Several board members and a resident speaker expressed concern about amplified music, late-hour noise and the site’s immediate adjacency to apartments. One board member described prior experience with similar venues and warned that bass and DJ noise can persist late into the night.

A motion to deny the variance because of the property’s proximity to a residential area was made and seconded; the motion carried 6–1 and the request was denied.
