Judson ISD reports enrollment decline overall, middle-school numbers rise; pre-K reductions cited

District administrators told trustees that live enrollment figures show a year‑over‑year decrease of about 861 students, driven primarily by a reduction in pre‑K 3 programming. The district updated a board report that compares September live counts to historical snapshots. Assistant superintendent Dr. Ghosh (presenting enrollment slides) said pre‑K numbers declined by about 437 students largely because the district closed parts of its pre‑K 3 program. She also reported that, for the first time in five years, middle-school enrollment rose; the growth was not limited to the new Cibolo Creek campus, she said. Trustees discussed boundary shifts that affected campus totals: the board previously adjusted Selma/Rolling Meadows boundaries and staff said the changes shifted students from Rolling Meadows to Selma. Administrators noted that snapshot enrollment used for state funding will be submitted in January under recent legislative timing changes and asked principals to monitor attendance; the district also continues work with a demographer and finance staff to analyze where students moved and whether charters, neighboring ISDs or other factors contributed to the loss. No formal board action was taken; administrators said a finalized October snapshot and demographer follow-up would be provided at a later date.
