The Champaign County Board on Sept. 18 adopted Resolution 2025‑264 to appoint Monique Settles to the county board for District 10, filling the unexpired term of Jason Batata through Nov. 30, 2026. The motion to adopt the resolution was moved and seconded and passed by voice vote.

Settles took the oath of office at the meeting and was formally seated. A board member asked whether the appointment complied with the 60‑day timing since the seat became vacant; the transcript records that a board member responded “That is my understanding,” but no named official counsel was recorded on the public record in that exchange.

Chair Locke welcomed Settles and indicated there would be a photo opportunity after the swearing‑in.
