The Liberty County Board of Commissioners approved awarding a contract to Griffin Contracting to construct the Pecan Lane water system at a base price of $166,095.51 with an added 10% contingency.
Public works staff said a mobilization error in Griffin’s bid reduced their price; staff reviewed the bid, identified funds within the budget to move the project forward, and recommended immediate approval so the contractor could mobilize. Commissioners moved, seconded, and voted to authorize the engineer to proceed and to include a 10% contingency for unforeseen field changes.
The motion authorized the county engineer to begin the work; staff said they were ready to start as soon as the contract was executed. Commissioners asked staff to ensure contingencies were documented and to return if additional budget adjustments were required before construction progressed further.
