Mr. McCarty, a district staff member, opened the budget hearing for the advertised 2026 budget, the five‑year bus replacement plan and the three‑year capital project plan at the Sept. 18 meeting of the Board of School Trustees of the South Madison Community School Corporation.
McCarty told trustees the administration followed the district’s adopted budget calendar and Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) guidelines. He said the administration held a budget work session on Aug. 21 and that the board authorized advertisement of the 2026 budget on Sept. 4. The advertised budgets, he said, were uploaded to the state Gateway site and posted on the district website as required by state law.
McCarty invited questions from the public or the board about the advertised budget and related plans; no public questions were offered and he closed the hearing. He reminded the board that adoption of the budget is scheduled for Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.
No formal budget adoption vote took place at the hearing; the meeting record shows the hearing opened and closed with no public comment.
