The Rosenberg City Council voted unanimously Sept. 12 to approve Resolution No. 3956 authorizing the purchase of LED lighting for the Sunset Park soccer field and tennis courts from Musco Sports Lighting for $225,000 under the BuyBoard cooperative purchasing contract (No. 677-22).
City staff said the existing poles and fixtures date to the 1970s and that the project will replace light poles, fixtures and control panels with LED equipment to improve energy efficiency and reliability. Staff said the project is included in the FY 2026 capital improvement program and will be funded from RDC (park-related) funds allocated in the adopted budget.
Councilmembers asked routine questions about energy savings and installation; staff said LEDs will reduce maintenance costs but that electricity-rate changes limit the immediate budget savings. The council approved the resolution and instructed staff to schedule procurement and installation under the contract vehicle.
