Farmingdale homeowners receive approval for two-story addition, shed removal required

Neeraj and Moshe Lalvani told the Zoning Board they want to add a two-story addition with an above-garage master bedroom and a second bathroom to their home at 21 Hawthorne Street, Farmingdale. Neeraj Lalvani said the family needs additional bathroom space for their two daughters and will add a garage where none exists now.
Board members noted a shed partially off the property and asked whether the applicants would relocate it if required. Neeraj Lalvani said they agreed to move the shed and to ensure the patio and other features conform to the property line. The board made approval contingent on the planning memo’s conditions — specifically that the patio be cut back within the applicant’s property and that if the shed is removed it will be rebuilt in a conforming location.
A motion to approve application 25147 with the two planning conditions carried by voice vote. The record includes a planning division memo dated Sept. 8, 2025 and a survey dated Jan. 29, 2025.
