Inspections remain required; McCandrew said the county will accept a letter from a professional engineer certifying work in some cases to avoid destructive re‑opening of walls.
Exceptions and timeframe: Commissioners noted the waiver expires on Dec. 31, 2025. Staff emphasized that work performed without permits remains subject to the Florida Building Code, and that the program is intended to balance safety and practical recovery needs.
