At a September 2025 Jones County meeting, the board readopted the county's property tax millage rates after rerunning a required advertisement to include a five‑year history, a county staff member said.
The action followed a review by the Georgia Department of Revenue of the county's property tax advertisement. "They noted that on our our 5 year history ad ... We were showing, 4 prior years in the current year. They want to see 5 prior years in the current year," a county staff member said. The staff member said 2020 was not included in the original ad and that the county reran the advertisement to correct the omission.
After the corrected advertisement was published, a motion was made to readopt the millage rates. The motion was seconded and approved; the transcript records voices saying "All in favor," but does not record individual vote tallies or the names of members who moved and seconded the motion.
The readoption was administrative: according to the staff explanation in the meeting, it was requested by the Georgia Department of Revenue so the county's advertisement complied with the department's requirement for a five‑year property tax history in the public notice. There was no further discussion recorded in the transcript regarding changes to millage levels or a different tax policy.
The meeting then proceeded toward adjournment, with a motion to adjourn recorded shortly after the readoption vote.
