The executive committee discussed the annual SAC report and agreed to use small workgroups to divide drafting tasks and to schedule additional meetings before the December deadline.
Missy Wrigley said she found notes suggesting a subcommittee had worked on the report previously and asked whether the same smaller group would continue. Sean clarified that the whole executive group acts as the subcommittee but that workgroups have been used to divide drafting. "Basically, what we do is we dole out different pieces of this report. People take ownership over it, and we talked about who's going to write what and update different pieces of the report," Sean said.
Committee members agreed it is typical to set aside time in December for final edits so the report can be submitted with enough time for CERC and the state department to include their sections. Christine said staff will help assemble previous meeting notes and provide templates from past drafts. "We set that all up. We try to get it done before Christmas time so that we can give it so that CERC has enough time and that, CSDE has enough time to put in their portion," she said.
Members asked for targeted check-ins with Brian (special education administration staff) to confirm how much time he needs for a back-to-school update and whether a due-process presentation should be scheduled at a full council meeting. Staff agreed to reach out to Brian to coordinate time and to ensure that Brian and CSDE staff can review the final draft before submission.
Ending: working groups will draft assigned report sections, staff will circulate templates and prior drafts, and the committee will hold extra December meetings to complete the annual report for submission to CERC and CSDE.
