The River City EDC held a public hearing Wednesday on its FY25–26 work plan and described several proposed projects including a pool upgrade, a donated digital sign and a Main Street beautification effort.
The hearing opened with staff explaining that the work plan covers proposed projects in infrastructure, tourism development, economic development, community promotions and marketing, job creation and Main Street enhancement. "We do, from what I noticed, have 2 projects in there that are relatively new: under tourism development, a pool project; under promotions and marketing, a digital sign; and under Main Street Enhancement, the beautification project," a staff member said.
Staff said the digital sign is a former Payne Motors unit donated to the city that will require repairs and electrical hookup before use. The Main Street beautification proposal includes public art, street furniture and other visual enhancements intended to support downtown businesses and create a more inviting environment for residents and visitors. The pool upgrade was described as intended to improve tourism and quality of life at Chachalaca Park.
No members of the public appeared to comment at the hearing and no written comments were received; the board opened the hearing for a limited comment period and then closed it after the allotted time.
The hearing record and the work plan packet will remain on file for review as staff pursues project budgeting and any necessary approvals.
