Atherton issues proclamations honoring former council member and recognizing domestic‑violence and suicide‑prevention months

The Town of Atherton City Council on Sept. 17 presented a proclamation and plaque honoring former Council Member Diana Hawkins Manuelian for her service and community work. Diana Hawkins Manuelian thanked the council and residents and said she planned to remain active in the community.
The council also presented a proclamation recognizing October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month to representatives of CORA (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse). Caitlin Chang, manager of CORA’s safe‑house and supportive housing programs, said CORA provides crisis services including a 24/7 hotline, emergency shelter, rental assistance, legal and mental‑health services and countywide satellite clinics in East Palo Alto, Half Moon Bay and North Fair Oaks. Chang asked residents to share CORA’s hotline number for those in need; staff read the number provided in the meeting packet.
The council noted a proclamation for September 2025 as Suicide Prevention Month is in the agenda packet and that it would be sent to the relevant organization because no representative was present to accept it.
All three recognitions were ceremonial; no formal policy actions were associated with the proclamations.
