Florence K-6 seeks town support for 12th annual Trunk-or-Treat on Oct. 31

Florence, Ariz. — Donna Rankin, speaking at the Town of Florence council meeting on Sept. 16, asked the council to continue providing safety and logistical support for Florence K-6’s 12th annual Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 31.

Rankin, who identified herself as representing Florence K-6, said the event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with setup starting at 8:30 a.m. on Orlando Street. “We have approximately 650 kids this year,” Rankin told the council, and the event will now include students through sixth grade after previously stopping at third grade.

She thanked the town for past support, noting the police department has managed road closures and provided security and the fire department has distributed candy when available. Rankin said Parks and Recreation also has assisted in prior years and asked that event details be given to Jeff and other town staff for dissemination.

Council members responded with appreciation and encouragement. One council member noted that residents who do not wish to participate can watch the parade route, and Vice Mayor Adam issued a public challenge to Florence Copper to participate, praising previous years’ costumes.

Why it matters: The event involves traffic control and public-safety coordination and draws many children and families to the downtown area; the school is seeking continued town operational support.

What’s next: Rankin will provide event details to town staff for coordination of road closures, emergency services and Parks & Recreation support; no formal council action was required at the Sept. 16 meeting.
